A “Smart” Contact Lens to Detect Diabetes

Researchers at Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology (UNIST) in South Korea may have gotten a step ahead of Google’s efforts to develop a contact lens that can detect diabetes and glaucoma. Using a hybrid film made from graphene and silver nanowires, the UNIST researchers have made contact lenses for detecting multiple biomarkers that are clear and flexible.
