Coronary Bypass Better than Other Treatment Options in Type 1

A new study says that coronary artery bypass surgery (CABG) is the best method of treating artherosclerotic coronary arteries in patients type 1 diabetes and multivessel disease. Current guidelines have recommended CABG over the use of balloon catheters in patients with two or more diseased coronary vessels, but it had not been previously studied whether the benefits applied to patients with type 1, as opposed to the more common type 2 diabetes.
