Two Common Diabetes Drugs Linked to Heart Disease

Two types of drugs widely prescribed for  type 2 diabetes in order to lower blood sugar levels may increase the risk of heart attack, stroke and heart failure, according to new research. The first, sulfonylureas, are oral medications that cause the body to release more insulin; they have been in use since the 1950s. The second type of drug, basal insulin, is given as an injection, and is designed to be released slowly throughout the day. Read more
