Early Screening for Gestational Diabetes in Women with Obesity May Not Be Helpful


The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists recommends earlier screening for gestational diabetes in women with certain risk factors, including obesity, but study data to support this recommendation has been lacking. Findings presented Feb. 14, 2019 at the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine’s annual Pregnancy Meeting™ suggest there is no improvement in pregnancy outcomes for women with obesity who receive early screening.
