Long Term Effects of Gastric Bypass & Type 2

A large study of people with type 2 diabetes who had gastric bypass surgery found that their risks for all-cause mortality, cardiovascular disease, acute myocardial infarction, and congestive heart failure were all lower after the surgery. They also had reduced risk of kidney disease, hyperglycemia, cancer, and leg amputations. However, there were also some negative consequences, such as higher risk of anemia and malnutrition.
