People whose mothers had diabetes during pregnancy are at increased risk for early heart disease as young adults. The researchers say that the risk applies to both children of mothers who have pre-existing type 2 diabetes when they become pregnant, and children whose mothers developed gestational diabetes during their pregnancies.
