Gum disease (periodontitis) is often found in people with diabetes. A new study suggests that treating periodontitis may actually help people with type 2 diabetes manage their blood glucose levels as well as reduce their risk of diabetes-related complications. The researchers say gum disease treatment may lead to a reduction in systemic inflammation, and improvements in kidney and blood vessel function. Read more
