Rotavirus Vaccine May Help Prevent Type 1

A recent drop in type 1 diabetes rates in Australian children may be linked to the introduction of a routine vaccine against rotavirus. Researchers in Melbourne found that diabetes rates have been declining in infants since the vaccine’s launch in Australia in 2007, which supports previous research that suggested rotavirus infection might be a risk factor for type 1, which is an autoimmune disorder.
